Prosenjit Chatterjee was born on September 30, 1962 in Kolkatta. He is an Indian actor and producer who works mainly in the fields of Bengali and Hindi cinema. Son of actor Biswajit Chatterjee, he is himself a known actor. He began his acting career with Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Chotto Jigyasa, for which he won the Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award – Most Outstanding Work of the Year. After that, he had played in other films as a child actor. The main role of Prosenjit was directed by Duti Pata of Bimal Roy, who could not leave his career.

He attended the English High School at Calcutta Airport (H.S.) until the tenth grade. He attended St. Xavier’s Collegiate School and St. Xavier’s College in Calcutta. [9] Prosenjit lives in Kolkata with his wife Arpita Pal and their son Trishanjit.

He has already had two marriages with Debashree Roy and Aparna Guhathakurta. Prosenjit and Aparna have a daughter together, Prerona Chatterjee. In 2015, Prosenjit bought a cricket team in the Bengal Celebrity League, named Purulia Panthers.

He made his debut as a hero, Bimal Roy’s Duti Pata (1983), a teenage romance inspired by Bobby. Amar Sangi (1987) opposite Vijayeta Pandit, Apon Amaar Apon (1990) directed by Tarun Majumdar and Friend of Buddhadev Dasgupta, Yasin Ar Amar Madhubala (2007) are three important films of his career. The song “Chirodini Tumi Je Amar” by Amar Sangi has become a cult hit. Satabdi Roy played with him in more than 50 films. He directed 35 films with Rachana Banerjee, 50 with Rituparna Sengupta, around 16 with Indrani Haldar and four with his wife Arpita Pal.
