Shweta Menon was born April 23, 1974, is an Indian model, actress, and television presenter. She won the Miss India Asia Pacific Femina Prize in 1994. She has mainly performed in Malayalam and Hindi films, as well as appearing in several Tamil productions.

Menon hails from Valanchery in Kerala’s Malappuram district, but was born in Chandigarh to Malayalan parents Naranankutty and Sarada Menon. His father served in the Indian Air Force while his mother remained a housewife. She studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, East Hill, Kozhikode. The actor Anoop Menon is his cousin.

She was married to Bollywood model Bobby Bhonsle, but found herself divorced. On June 18, 2011, she married Sreevalsan Menon, from Thrissur, who works in Mumbai. The ceremony took place at Neythalappurath Sastha Ayappa Temple, Valanchery, Kerala. She had her first child, a daughter, Sabaina Menon, on September 27, 2012 at 5:27 pm at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. The delivery was recorded on the camera as part of the movie Kalimannu.

She began her career as an actress in feature films in Malayalam in the early 1990s. She ventured into modeling and was recognized, having participated in and won several beauty pageants, which led to her debut in Bollywood. This is the movie Ishq (1997 film) where she aroused special attention as a sensual dancer of the song “Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai” starring Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan as well as in Bandhan. After appearances in more than 30 Hindi films

Controversies
  • Shwetha Menon was charged with insulting the Indian flag at a fashion show on 5 January 2004. The show was organized by NIFD at a resort, where Menon walked the ramp allegedly with the tricolour wrapped around her body.
  • In 2011 she had filed a case against Kunnath Pharmaceuticals’ managing director K.C. Abraham for misusing stills from her film Kayam for promoting their Ayurvedic aphrodisiac Musli Power Extra. The Ernakulam central police arrested Abraham.
  • Shwetha allowed her delivery to be recorded for Blessy’s film Kalimannu. The act was condemned for commercializing the most private affair of a woman by the Kerala Film Exhibitors.
  • On 4 November 2013, she filed a case against N. Peethambara Kurup from the Indian national congress in a groping incident. Shweta later dropped her complaint against Kurup, saying the 71-year-old leader tendered a “personal apology” to her hours after she lodged the FIR against him.
