Karthika Menon was born on June 6, 1986, better known by her stage name Bhavana, is an Indian actress, who works in the film industry south of India. She has appeared in films in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu and has established herself as a leading actress.

Bhavana made her film debut in the Malayalam film Nammal in 2002, for which she won the Kerala State Film Award – Special Mention. During a career of more than a decade, she has starred in more than 75 films and won two Kerala State Film Awards.

Bhavana was born on June 6, 1986 in Thrissur district (Kerala) as Karthika Menon, daughter of Pushpa and deputy director of photography G. Balachandran. She has an older brother, Jayadev. She attended Holy Family Girls’ High School in Chembukkavu, Thrissur.

Bhavana married her long-time boyfriend and film producer Kannada, Naveen, on January 22, 2018.

On 17 February 2017, she was allegedly kidnapped and molested by a gang while travelling from work. The incident happened at night when she was moving from Thrissur to Kochi in her car when a van hit from behind near Athani, Angamaly. A brawl ensued between her driver Martin and the three van passengers, after which they pulled him aside and forcefully entered her vehicle keeping her hostage. They drove for two-and-a-half hours in the city, during which they sexually assaulted her and took pictures and filmed. They dropped her near Kakkanad and ran away. Bhavana filed a case with the police. The FIR was registered with allegations of rape, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy, and breaches of relevant sections of the IT Act of India.
