Ashley Callingbull is a Canadian model, actress and television personality. Ashley Callingbull became the first Canadian and Indigenous woman to win the Ms. Universe title on August 29, 2015.

She and her stepfather participated in the 4th season of The Amazing Race Canada. They also participated in the 2nd Amazing Race Devon, a local youth fundraiser, in which they placed 2nd.

Callingbull was born in the Enoch Cree Nation near Edmonton, Alberta to Cree parents. By the age of 10, she had consecutively won all the Princess of Enoch crowns in her community. She graduated from high school at the age of 16. Shortly after, she began her university studies to pursue her bachelor’s degree in science, communications and an arts degree focusing on theater and theater/television.

Callingbull was also chosen as Miss Canada for the Miss Friendship International pageant held in Hubei, China in September 2010, and represented Canada at the Queen of the World Finals held in Germany as well. in 2010.

She also represented Canada at Miss Humanity International in Barbados in October 2011.

She used her notoriety to urge First Nation band governments to vote to depose the Conservative Party of Canada in the 2015 federal election. Callingbull said the First Nation’s concerns needed to be highlighted in the campaign. During the Ms. Universe competition, she wore a dress that aimed to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women, designed by Lesley Hampton.

In May 2022, she became the first Indigenous woman to be featured in a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

She is also an actress and plays Sheila Delaronde in the Blackstone series.
