Meera Jasmine was born Jasmine Mary Joseph on February 15, 1984, is an Indian actress who appears in South Indian films, mainly Malayalam and Tamil films. She was a popular lead actress in the 2000s.

Meera Jasmine won the Best Actress National Film Award in 2004 for her role in Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam. She has twice been awarded the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. She also won the Kalaimamani Prize from the Government of Tamil Nadu

The Hindus called him “one of the rare actors to be able to fend for himself among the stars and the spectators of the Malayalam cinema”.

Meera Jasmine was born into a Syrian Christian family from the village of Kuttapuzha, Thiruvalla, Kerala, Joseph and Aleyamma. She was the fourth of five children.

She has two sisters, Jiby Sara Joseph and Jeny Susan Joseph, who also played in movies, as well as two brothers, one of them, George, was assistant director of photography.

She graduated from Bala Vihar, Thiruvalla and Marthoma, Thiruvalla. She participated in her high school exams in March 2000. She enrolled in a Bachelor of Zoology program at Assumption College in Changanassery and finished almost three months after being spotted by director Blessy and offered a role in Soothradharan.

In 2008, she said in an interview that she would marry Mandolin Rajesh, “but not in the next two or three years”. Meera is married to Anil John Titus on February 9, 2014, who works as an engineer in Dubai.

Controversies
She offered prayers at Raja Rajeshwara temple at Taliparamba in Kerala where the entry of non-Hindus is prohibited. This led to a controversy and sparked off a protest by Hindu devotees. Later, she paid ₹10,000 (US$140) as penalty to the temple authorities to conduct the purification rituals.
