Trisha Krishnan was born on May 4, 1983, known mononymously as Trisha, is an Indian actress and model, who works mainly in South Indian films, where she established herself as a leading actress. She was noticed after winning several beauty contests like the Miss Madras contest (1999), which marked her entrance into the cinema

After starring in the 1999 Tamil Jodi film, she had her first lead role in the 2002 film Mounam Pesiyadhe. She later became famous in the blockbuster films Saamy (2003) and Ghilli (2004) in Tamil cinema and Varsham (2004) in Telugu cinema, for which she won her first South Filmfare Best Actress Award. She won the prize twice more for Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005) and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule (2007). In 2010, she made her Bollywood debut at Khatta Meetha. She was seen in her best career performances in Abhiyum Naanum (2008) and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) for which she won the Vijay Award for Favorite Heroine and was nominated for the Best Tamil Actress Film Award.

Trisha was born in Krishnan and Uma in Chennai to a Tamil Brahmin family in Palakkad, Kerala. She completed her studies at the Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Church Park, Chennai, and then completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course at Ethiraj College for Women (Chennai). She ventured into modeling and appeared in several print and television commercials. In 1999, she won the beauty contest “Miss Salem”, and later that year, the Miss Madras contest. She also won the “Beautiful Smile” Award at the 2001 Miss India Contest.

Trisha had aspired to become a criminal psychologist at first, and resisted the idea of continuing to act because she wanted to finish her studies first. She also appeared in the music video of Falguni Pathak Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye as a friend of Ayesha Takia, who was led by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. Later, she was approached for an acting role in the Tamil film Lesa Lesa by Indian director Priyadarshan, who ushered in her professional career as an actress. During her college studies, she had worked on a tight filming schedule, making it difficult to pursue her studies. However, she compensated by attending summer school.
