Catherine Zeta-Jones was born September 25, 1969, is a Welsh actress. Born and raised in Swansea, Zeta-Jones aspired to be an actress from a young age. As a child, she played roles in West End productions of musicals Annie and Bugsy Malone. She studied musical theater at Arts Educational Schools in London and made her appearance on stage with a leading role in a 1987 production of 42nd Street. Her screen debut took place in the unsuccessful Franco-Italian film 1001 Nights (1990), and she continued to find more success as a regular on the British television series The Darling Buds of May (1991–1993 ). Appalled to have been interpreted as the pretty girl symbolic of British films, Zeta-Jones moved to Los Angeles.
