Priyanka Kothari, often referred to as Nisha Kothari or Amoha, is an actress and model. She has appeared in Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films. She has often appeared in Ram Gopal Varma‘s films and is therefore considered a sex symbol.
Priyanka Kothari was born on November 30, 1983 in West Bengal. She moved to New Delhi in grade 10 and graduated from Delhi University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Delhi’s Dyal Singh College. She chose chemistry because her father is a businessman who specializes in chemistry, while her mother is a housewife. She learned Kathak for 6 years and took acting lessons with Kishore. After graduation, Kothari became a model and appeared in several advertising campaigns. She appeared in Chadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani’s remix music video. In 2003, she had her big breakthrough in actor Madhavan, who recommended her for an audition in her film after viewing her photographs. She debuts with him in the Tamil film Jay Jay, credited with Amoga.
Kothari is a member of the International Film and Television Club of the Asian Academy of Film and Television. She married a Delhi-based businessman, Mr. Bhasker Prakash, in October 2016. She is a co-founder of the Nisha Foundation.
During the 2011 West Bengal State Assembly elections, she campaigned for Dr. Nirmal Majhi, candidate of the All India Trinamool Congress of North Uluberia, Kolkata.
In 2011, she walked the ramp of the Indian Fashion Week Wills Lifestyle (WIFW), which she describes as her return to Bollywood.
